How to Turn the AnyCase CapsLock Indicator On and Off on Windows

AnyCase can show a visual Caps Lock indicator near the mouse when Caps Lock is on. That popup is an AnyCase feature, not Windows’ built-in Caps Lock notification. If you need to convert text you already typed, use the free case converter. Microsoft’s Toggle Keys setting plays a sound when Caps Lock, Num Lock, or Scroll Lock is pressed. It does not add this mouse-adjacent visual indicator.

On current versions of AnyCase, including the latest v14.41 line, the Caps Lock indicator is off by default for new installations. That default changed in v12.78 after user feedback. You can turn it on or off in AnyCase settings. The current documentation calls the setting Caps Lock On Indicator.

How to turn on the Caps Lock indicator

You need AnyCase installed first. Get the latest version.

1. Open the AnyCase window. If it is closed, click the AnyCase icon in the taskbar or notification area.
2. Open AnyCase Settings. The gear control is at the bottom left of the AnyCase window.
3. Find the Caps Lock indicator setting or dedicated Caps Lock screen.
4. Set Caps Lock On Indicator to On.
5. Save or close settings.

With the setting on, a small visual indicator appears near the mouse whenever Caps Lock is active. That is useful on keyboards that have no Caps Lock light, and when you start typing in capitals by accident.

How to turn off the Caps Lock indicator

1. Open AnyCase Settings.
2. Find the Caps Lock indicator setting or dedicated Caps Lock screen.
3. Set Caps Lock On Indicator to Off.
4. Save or close settings.

Older AnyCase releases used an Indicators tab and a checkbox labeled “Add a CapsLock indicator when CapsLock is on.” Current versions use a dedicated Caps Lock screen with an On/Off choice, and the documentation name is Caps Lock On Indicator. The screens below show that older settings layout.

Windows Toggle Keys is a different feature

If you want Windows’ own cue, that is Toggle Keys: an audio beep, not the AnyCase popup. On Windows 11, open Settings → Accessibility → Keyboard → Toggle keys.

Final thoughts

The Caps Lock On Indicator still exists and is still optional. New installs leave it off until you enable it. Turn it on or off from AnyCase settings. Windows Toggle Keys remains a separate sound-based accessibility setting.
